Prayers for the Earth
Like my painting “Sanctuary,” “Prayers for the Earth” is not a landscape in the traditional sense, but speaks to my concern for the Earth. Warming temperatures from human-caused excess C02 emissions create all sorts of problems, including extinction of species, rising seas due to melting polar and mountaintop ice, fluctuations in climate and weather patterns, forest fires, drought, and more. The prayer flags in this painting are patterned with the colours and textures of the earth and each of them carry my heart's prayer for humans to work together to heal these problems.
