Introduction to Watercolour

Find out if you enjoy watercolour painting before investing in supplies. Complete one or two frameable works of art while you learn techniques. NEXT SESSIONS Saturday, February 8 & 15, 2014:

Please write to me at kylearts@telus.net if you are interested.

Cost for two Saturdays, including all supplies, is $175.00. Non-refundable deposit of $25 due at time of registration, and remaining due at beginning of first class.

Watch demonstrations, practice painting, and gain experience in watercolour techniques that you can build on. Learn how to organize a palette, choose and prepare materials, use five pigments to create a variety of colours, lay down washes, and create texture. At the end of the session(s) you will have "frameable" pieces of your own work that you have completed during the classes. You will learn how to frame your art on cradled wood panels or canvas in lieu of mats and glass. Helpful handouts will be provided to guide you in the future. A maximum of four to six people per session allows time for individual attention in an non-threatening and relaxed atmosphere. Absolutely no previous watercolour experience necessary.

part 1: soft edges and negative painting in sunflowers
part 2: texture in windows and doorways or flower basket
part 3: wash, value, and more negative painting techniques and practice
part 4: finish projects and wrap-up

Tea/ coffee and snack are provided each session. (For Saturday sessions bring a bag lunch).
