Crow Gathering

www.kylearts.ca

It's been two years since we have been able to gather for an arts festival. The organizers of Lake Country ArtWalk 2021 created an innovative way to make ArtWalk possible this year.

The event will be held outdoors at 12 sites throughout Lake Country on September 11 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Three artists per site will be demonstrating their art process as well as displaying and selling work. I will be at Site #12, Jack Seaton Park, along with Sheila Tansey (acrylic painting) and Carolyn Hague (Pine Needle Baskets). You can view the paintings I will display by clicking on this link: 2021 ArtWalk Taking It Outside.

I have been painting lots of trees and will demonstrate how I work with watercolour on "tree free paper," called terraskin, also used in "Crow Gathering" above. Trees are, for me, a metaphor for connection, growth, and groundedness. Plus they are beautiful, interesting, and necessary for human and other-than-human survival. What would we do without trees? The painting below is called, Walking in Sunshine.

Visit the Lake Country ArtWalk website to print out a Map and information about where artists are located as well as a "Passport to Prizes." If you visit all 12 sites and drop your filled out Passport into a draw box you will have a chance to win a certificate for $500, $200, or $100 towards the purchase of art this year or at the 2022 ArtWalk event.

The weather is predicted to be a warm Fall day and I am thankful to be outside at one of my favourite parks -- Jack Seaton -- that has a great children's playground and hiking paths through the forest. Beautiful. Please forward this announcement to others you think may be interested. Thank you and I hope to see you at some point between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 11.
