The Arrowleaf Balsam Root are wildflowers that bloom at the end of April and into May on the Okanagan Valley hillsides. Native Americans used the root in cooking and medicines. These flowers are in my blood and I look forward to their time of blooming as it is a sign that Spring has come. They blooms are mixed with the scents of sagebrush and Ponderosa pine needles.
